Documentary, concert, book signing part of special evening for the legendary guitarist

The story of legendary jazz guitarist Pat Martino’s battle back from complete memory loss after a brain aneurysm in the 1970s is a tale deemed by some as nothing short of a miracle.

The Boscov's Berks Jazz Fest has been blessed to have had Pat Martino perform several times during the annual event.

Now the fest wants to celebrate Martino’s continuing legacy and contributions to the music world -- and to look back on what made him the musician he is today.

The fest is hosting a special Pat Martino Day on Tuesday, March 27, at the Miller Center for the Arts, which will feature a special screening of the documentary Martino Unstrung: A Brain Mystery, followed by a concert by Martino and his trio. The concert will feature some surprise guests who have been part of Martino's musical journey.

Martino also will be available to meet and greet fans and to sign his new autobiography -- Here & Now! The Autobiography of Pat Martino -- following the concert. The was co-written by Bill Milkowski.

The film is a running commentary about a man, his music, his friends and family, and his philosophy of life. The film could be thought of as an intimate journey with Martino on the road of life.

However, its emphasis is on his brain aneurysm, surgery, memory loss, and the remarkable recovery of his guitar-playing ability.

Today, Martino lives in Philadelphia again and continues to grow as a musician, amazing audiences with his musical prowess.
