The Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest is well known for numerous  traditions.

One of those traditions is the annual live broadcast of a concert on Channel 69 WFMZ-TV,  major sponsor of the festival.

"The live broadcast has become a Berks Jazz Fest tradition," said Barry Fisher, WFMZ general manager. "We are proud to be part of the jazz festival. It's a great event for our community."

This year, the concert is being billed the WFMZ Jazz Stars, featuring Peter White, Brian Simpson, Gerald Veasley,
Nick Colionne, Walter Beasley and Elan
Trotman, a star-studded lineup that promises a rousing good time for those in attendance as well as those watching on TV.

Simpson and Veasley are the musical directors for this two-hour musical journey that will travel through the many hits of all the performers.

Celebrated keyboardist, composer Brian Simpson has been the ‘go-to’ man for many major pop acts, including Janet Jackson.

Placing his success in pop aside, Simpson has always been a working jazz musician. He has toured with some of the greats of recent jazz history, including George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Larry Carlton, Kirk Whalum, and Jonathan Butler. He has been the musical director for Dave Koz for the past 15 years, and for the last eight years the musical director of the highly popular “Smooth Jazz Cruise," featuring Marcus Miller and David Sanborn.
