Festival
lineup nearly finalized;
Esperanza Spalding headliner
Esperanza Spalding -- the young
bassist, vocalist, composer -- will be one of the major headliners during the
23rd annual Boscov's Berks Jazz Fest.
The date, time and venue will be announced Sunday, Nov. 25.
Spalding was one of the biggest breakout stars of 2011 -- not just in jazz, but
in all genres of music. Her receipt of the 2011 Grammy Award for Best New Artist
was unprecedented -- the first time a jazz musician had won the award.
Esperanza Spalding will be touring with her
11-piece Radio Music Society ensemble -- also the name of her current CD --
featuring a seven-piece horn section.
After reviewing Esperanza's concert, Rick Nowlin of the Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette recently wrote: "Let's cut to the chase. If you ever have
the chance to see Esperanza Spalding in concert, consider it a bargain at twice
the price." |
