A Peter White Christmas: Tickets remain for 7 p.m.
show
The annual Boscov's Berks Jazz Fest holiday show is a red-hot ticket.
"A Peter White Christmas featuring Rick Braun and Mindi Abair" will be presented
on Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Miller Center for the Arts located on the campus of
Reading Area Community College.
There are two shows -- 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Tickets are available for the 7 p.m. show.
Limited tickets remain for the 3 p.m. show (call

Fest
headliner Sandoval wins
Best Latin Jazz Album Grammy
The Boscov's Berks Jazz Fest is proud
to present legendary Cuban trumpeter and composer Arturo Sandoval during the
23rd annual event.
Sandoval and his band will perform Sunday, April 7, 7:30 p.m., at the Miller
Center for the Arts located on the Reading Area Community College Campus.
The concert will include music from Sandoval's latest CD project --
Dear Diz (Every Day I Think of You) -- which won the Best Latin Jazz Album
category at the Latin Grammy Awards ceremony held last weekend in Las Vegas.
Dear Diz also won the Grammy for Best Engineered Album.
The Dear Diz project is Sandoval’s tribute to Dizzy Gillespie, with whom
Sandoval was touring when he defected from his native Cuba in 1990.
Arturo also won a Latin Grammy for Best Tango Album -- Tango Como Yo Te
Siento -- last weekend, raising his career Grammy total to 12.

Festival artists: Fourplay
featuring Lalah Hathaway,
Rick Braun, David Benoit, Incognito featuring Maysa
The
lineup and schedule for the 23rd annual Boscov's Berks Jazz Fest has been
finalized.
The star-studded lineup means it is going to be another 10 days of great music
starting Friday, April 5.
One of the major headliners
will be the jazz super group Fourplay (photo right).
Joining Bob James, Nathan East, Harvey Mason and Chuck Loeb for the Berks Jazz
Fest performance will be special guest vocalist Lalah Hathaway (photo left).
In addition to Fourplay and Hathaway, other confirmed headliners are Esperanza Spalding, Dianne Reeves,
who will be performing with the Reading Symphony Orchestra; Keiko Matsui; Will Downing; Najee
with special guest Alex Bugnon, and Lee Ritenour with special guest Michael Lington.
The Dave Stahl Big Band featuring Bobby Caldwell and Andrew Neu;
Kurt Elling; Gerald Veasley's Sounds of
Philly featuring Phil Perry, Nick Colionne, Carol Riddick and Kindred The Family
Soul.
Incognito featuring Maysa; Gerald Albright & Norman Brown; Brian Culbertson;
Jazz Attack featuring Rick Braun, Richard Elliot, Peter White and Jeff Lorber;

to Jazz Celebration

Whalum,
Butler, McClurkin
to headline festival finale
The final concert of the Boscov's Berks
Jazz Fest will be a special "Gospel According to Jazz Celebration," that will be
headlined by
Kirk Whalum,
Jonathan Butler, and
Donnie McClurkin.
The concert is set for Sunday, April 14, 7 p.m., at the Scottish Rite Cathedral.
"This is going to be an awesome concert," said Whalum, who will serve
as musical director for the show that also will feature his band.
Whalum and Butler have been blending jazz and gospel music throughout their
outstanding careers.
Vocalist and minister
McClurkin is one of the biggest names in gospel music. He has won three Grammy awards, 10
Stellar awards, two BET awards, two Soul Train awards, a Dove award and a NAACP
Image award for his work. |

Reading Pops Orchestra joins
forces with saxophonist Neu
The Reading Pops Orchestra continues
its popular Sunday with the Pops series with the annual holiday concert on
Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Miller Center for the Arts located on the Reading
Community College Campus.
The 3 p.m. concert will feature special guest
Andrew Neu, the dynamic saxophonist who is a regular performer at the Berks Jazz Fest.
Pops conductor Dr. Willis Rapp and Neu have put together an outstanding program
of holiday classics and several selections from Neu's songbook.
From his appearances with Peter Nero & The Philly Pops and the Philadelphia
Orchestra to his live performances touring with Bobby Caldwell, Diane Schuur and
Smokey Robinson, Andrew Neu is one of the most exciting multi-genre musicians
today.
