Karukas' holiday concert Friday night at Building 24 Live225x300 Wallpaper gregg karukas, hat, suit, tie, shirt
Gregg Karukas and Shelby Flint bring all the warmth of the season to Building 24 Live with “Home for the Holidays," an “unplugged” holiday jazz concert featuring music from their CD that immediately gained massive air play on both mainstream, and contemporary jazz formats upon its initial release.
The concert is set for Friday, December 13, 7:30 p.m. Call 610-375-2700 for reservations and tickets.
It features Gregg’s innovative trio arrangements of holiday classics, and four originals written or co-written by legendary singer-songwriter Shelby Flint (“Angel on my Shoulder”).
Karukas is a Grammy winning keyboardist/composer, who is undeniably one of the busiest artists of the contemporary Jazz genre. His latest high profile gigs: musical director and keyboardist for the Dave Koz and Friends Music Cruises to Alaska (2010) and Europe (2012 & 2013).
Joni Mitchell said of Shelby Flint: “I started out copying a girl named Shelby Flint."
The simple song she wrote and sang as a teenager still resonates as the prototype for the entire female singer/songwriter genre. Shelby Flint's "Angel on My Shoulder" became a hit on the radio in 1960 and launched a record company. Another radio hit was “Cast Your Fate to the Wind."
Joining Karukas and Flint will be Shannon Ford on drums and Steve Zerlin on bass.
