Brent Carter

The "Countdown to the 20th" continues!
To help kick off this year's milestone 20th annual VF
Outlet Berks Jazz Fest, the Dance Hall Docs and special guest
vocalist Brent Carter will celebrate Tower of Power's continuing
legacy with a high-energy tribute concert!
Carter is a former leader singer of
Tower of Power. For over 40 years, TOP has
been creating their own kind of soul
music.
Since 1968, Tower of Power has
delivered their unique brand of music to
their fans, appearing before sold-out
crowds as they tour the world each year.
Tower's sound can be hard to categorize,
but the band's leader and founding
member, Emilio Castillo, has labeled
their sound as "Urban Soul Music."
Tower's rhythm section lays down a
groove like no other band. The band's
horn-driven sound is unique, and the way
they approach everything, from writing
and arranging to mixing and performing,
is totally their own. Combine all of
that with an outstanding lead vocalist,
and you have one of the most dynamic
groups of musicians to ever hit the
stage.
The
Dance Hall Docs are an 11-piece band playing funk,
pop, jazz, R&B and soul. Comprised of a talented mix of
musicians, DHD will perform in a style reminiscent of the
horn bands of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
The horns are led by Mike Anderson (Berks Jazz Fest Horns)
on sax and vocals, John Loos on trombone, Bob Stoyko on
trumpet, and Rob Diener on trumpet, rap and vocals. The
rhythm section includes Pete Rogosky on guitar, Ron
Stabinsky on keyboards, Paul Gallello on drums, percussion
and vocals, and Rob Cochran on bass and vocals.
Chandler Mogel is the lead vocalist. Freddy Moreadith, on
drums, percussion and vocals, is the leader of the band.
Special guest
Brent Carter
was lead singer of
legendary soul group Tower of Power for nearly six years,
during which time TOP recorded three albums, Souled Out,
Rhythm & Business, and Soul Vaccination: Tower of
Power Live.
When not in the studio, Carter toured the world with TOP,
performing in virtually every corner of the globe to
sold-out audiences.
A crooning balladeer and a gutsy vocalist, the strength,
depth and range of Carter's voice have allowed him to tour
with BeBe & CeCe Winans, B.B. King and Regina Belle, and
provide background vocals for Phil Perry, Chris Walker and
Malira.
Carter has a tremendous ability to switch gears from a
romantic serenade, to sho'nuff funk, to deliciously smooth
grooves, and promises to touch the hearts and souls of
everyone who sees him live.
