Producer Jason Miles is a master at celebrating great music by assembling great musicians to perform it.

In a Berks Jazz Fest premiere, Miles is presenting the first live performance of his memorable 2000 album Celebrating the Music of Weather Report.

So there is little wonder why Miles has assembled an array of contemporary jazz heavyweights to honor the 30th anniversary of the formation of Weather Report, one of the pre-eminent early jazz fusion bands led by Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter and Miroslav Vitous.

This concert is devoted to the music of Weather Report as only Miles, a true musical visionary who has helped shape the landscape of contemporary jazz, can do it. The Grammy winner consistently brings the highest level of artistry to his multi-faceted recordings as a producer and artist and also his live performances. He also is a gifted keyboardist and arranger.

Talented artists helping Miles breathe life into this special concert are:

Jeff Coffin, a saxophonist, bandleader, composer, educator, three-time Grammy winner as a member of Bela Fleck & The Flecktones and a member of the Dave Matthews Band.

Theo Croker, a highly regarded trumpeter and bandleader noted for his unique style that includes elements of salsa, rock, R&B, blues and hip-hop.

Gerald Veasley, a talented, enthusiastic, energetic and passionate bassist who hardly needs an introduction to Berks Jazz Fest audiences. Gerald toured with Weather Report founder Joe Zwainul for eight years as a member of The Zwainul Syndicate.

Karen Briggs, a remarkable violinist whose genres cover an eclectic range and fusion of world musical influences mostly linked by improvisation and embellishment who continually expands the contemporary violin sound.

Mino Cinelu, a formidable talent as a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and band leader who as a teenager toured and recorded with musical giants Weather Report, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder and Lou Reed.

Carter Beauford, an outstanding drummer, percussionist and founding member of the Dave Matthews Band who has both ambidextrous and open hand drumming styles.

Shaun Martin, a multiple Grammy winner and superlative keyboardist notable not only for his playing but also for creating, collaborating and his 2015 album Seven Summers.
