The Rippingtons are a Grammy-nominated contemporary jazz group founded by guitarist and composer Russ Freeman in 1985. The group has passed the 30-year mark and continues to innovate.

Under Freeman’s production, the group has released 22 albums, all of which have attained Top 5 Billboard status, with five of them reaching No. 1. They have sold over three million albums to date.

Their debut album Moonlighting was called “the number one most influential contemporary jazz album of all time” by Jazziz magazine.

Their latest album True Stories is the group’s 30th anniversary release.

The group’s influences are wide ranging, from instrumental pop to rock to world music to R&B. Artists who have recorded with The Rippingtons include Arturo Sandoval, Jeffrey Osbourne, Kirk Whalum, Kenny G, Dave Grusin, the late Joe Sample, Dave Koz, David Benoit, Patti Austin, Peter White, Rick Braun, Zak Wylde and many more.

Saxophonist, singer, and composer Grace Kelly plays with the heart and passion of an old soul yet with the genre-bending zest and energy of a 24-year-old.

Having been a regular on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s band, her10th CD as a leader, Trying To Figure It Out, was voted No. 2 Jazz Album of The Year in the 2016 Downbeat Magazine Readers Poll.

Kelly was the winner of the 2016 Downbeat Magazine Critics Poll as “Rising Star Alto Saxophone,” and voted fourth in the Alto Saxophonist category in the 2016 Downbeat Magazine Readers Poll. She also won “Jazz Artist of the Year” in the 2016 Boston Music Awards and “Alto Saxophonist of the Year” by NYC Jazz Fans Decision 2016.
